I just bought “Programming Erlang: Software for a Concurrent World” and started going through it. Then, after watching my daughters fascination with a couple games on Nick Jr., I started thinking about writing a game for her. I started looking at Torque and thinking about Flash but couldn’t really get excited about using either framework or the costs involved. While googling, I ran across a game engine called Novashell. Cross-platform and designed for basic RPG and side-scroller games and FREE. How could I resist? I downloaded it, played the example games and was hooked. I’m now going through the tutorial now and I’m still excited!
On Erlang is running a contest“… to write a tutorial or explanatory post that supports or supplements ‘Programming Erlang: Software for a Concurrent World‘.” Erlang is yet another ingredient to throw into the programming hodgepodge. When it comes to technology, I definitely have ADD. I know I should be working on the Rails project I’ve started, but I’ll probably do some kind of Erlang tutorial to try to win the book.
